About

The ‘Beyond the Room’ artist group formed in 2020, after meeting online under the mentorship of a prominent international artist. The group members all currently live in Australia, and are Catriona Graham, Christine Ewan, Jane Helmers, Steve Tomlin and Vanessa Rowe.

Despite only meeting as a group once in real life, their connection has evolved through a common focus - the exploration of the landscape, both imagined and real.

The works depict scenes of simple observation, imagined arcadian worlds, vignettes from daily life and immersive experiences of snow, sea and land.

Working across a range of different materials and techniques, the artists are all paying attention to light, shadow, form and colour.
